ABOUT US
KAA is a pragmatic welfare organization which is forward looking and dynamic. The association’s motto of “Umoja Ni Nguvu” is embedded in the core belief of the Kenyan culture of supporting one another. KAA is however taking a different approach of not just supporting one another during times of crisis but building a firewall from each member’s flame to shield ourselves from artificial problems and enable us tackle with ease natural ones.
Kenya Americans in the Inland Empire was founded in 2003 by Chairman Marvin Ochieng Opiyo and board members Prisca Oendo, Dixon Anjejo, Chweya Masongo, Ayuka Oendo, as well as Oluoch Nyabito. As the organization grew to benefit Kenyans who did not live in Southern California's Inland Empire, the name was changed to Kenyan American Association. KAA's early beginnings started in the homes of Kenyans in need for community and an adopted family to celebrate the American holidays, educational milestones, and support one another during times of bereavement. Today KAA celebrates over 15 years and is proud to have been able to share our cultural cuisine, songs, and prayers in an effort to unite the diaspora.
